PathAI is an innovative software system developed by ITAS in cooperation with the Clinical Center of Montenegro, with support from the Innovation Fund of Montenegro. The platform uses advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to analyze histopathology images, identify tumor tissue and recognize key pathological structures, helping pathologists perform faster and more reliable analyses.

How does PathAI work?
The technological approach behind PathAI is based on a two-stage AI architecture that combines rapid tissue detection with highly detailed image analysis.
The system operates in two key stages:
- Tumor Detection – A coarse AI model distinguishes between tumor and non-tumor tissue, accurately identifying regions of interest.
- Multi-Class Tissue Segmentation – A more advanced model performs detailed segmentation of tissue structures, including glands and stroma, while continuously improving annotation quality and model validation.
This layered approach enables both efficient processing and highly accurate pathological analysis.
